Mrs. Bunbury was a truly extraordinary woman - kind, loving, and endlessly thoughtful. Her intelligence was matched only by her sharp wit and delightful sense of humor.
One of Mrs. Bunbury’s great joys was watching her favourite shows. When I visited the house, she would be comfy on her chair, legs up, tucked cosily under a blanket, watching the TV. When I asked what she was watching, her witty commentary turned even the simplest episode into an event full of laughter, insight, and connection.
Mrs. Bunbury leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Though I know her presence is deeply missed, her kindness and humor will continue to light the lives of those who were blessed to know her.

Mrs Bunbury was an energetic and wonderful woman. I have so many memories of her always laughing and smiling and making Sheena and I breakfast after many a sleepover.
I will always remember her taking a real interest in what was going on in my life and I enjoyed telling her my stories. I knew she would be laughing with that contagious laugh and ready to give her opinion and advice on the matter.
I will remember Mrs Bunbury forever and happy that she will be watching over her family and friends until they meet with her again.

My name is Bernard McDavid, and I am the child of my aunt’s youngest sister, Michelle. From a young age, I came to know my aunt through stories shared by my mother and grandmother. They often spoke about her life in Canada, painting vivid pictures of their visits—the cold weather, her dedication to her work, and her unwavering discipline. I remember them marvelling at how she would rise early on freezing winter mornings to catch the bus and head to work, a testament to her incredible perseverance.
Even before I met her, I felt connected to her through the thoughtful packages she sent to Guyana. There was always something inside, marked with my name, containing a special item just for me. I remember her asking what I liked to eat, and I told her I loved ravioli. From that moment on, tins of ravioli became a staple in every package she sent. That simple yet meaningful gesture exemplified her thoughtfulness and her deep capacity for love. She had a heart big enough to embrace everyone she cared for, and her love was truly unconditional. In her presence—even from afar—you felt seen, valued, and cherished.
As I grew older, our bond deepened. Through my high school years, she became a steadfast source of encouragement. I recall the time I ambitiously decided to take on 17 subjects at CXC—an idea most would have found daunting. Yet, she never doubted me. She believed in my potential and stood by me every step of the way. When I succeeded, she celebrated my achievements as if they were her own, sending me a small graduation bear dressed in a cap and gown along with a heartfelt card. Her kindness was boundless, and she showed by example the importance of compassion and generosity.
When I began my journey in medical school, her encouragement never wavered. During the toughest moments, when the weight of my studies felt insurmountable, she always found the right words to lift my spirits. Her emails, filled with thoughtful advice and warm support, were a source of strength. She celebrated every milestone with me, and when I graduated in 2021—after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—her pride was palpable as I told her of my successful completion.
Even as I embarked on my career as a doctor in Guyana’s rural areas, facing long and difficult days, she remained my cheerleader. Her infectious laughter, heartwarming jokes, and wise counsel were often the perfect remedy for a draining day. She was more than an aunt to me—she was a mentor, a confidant, and a guiding light.
She had a rich love for life, often sharing with me the books she was reading and the shows she enjoyed watching, always urging me to explore them as well. Every conversation with her was filled with warmth, wit, and wisdom. She left behind an enduring legacy of love, kindness, and resilience—a legacy that will forever inspire all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her presence had a way of brightening every room and uplifting every heart. Though she is no longer with us, her memory lives on in the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the countless lives she touched.
Thank you, Aunty June, for being such a remarkable part of my life. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

I will never forget Mrs. Bunbury’s laugh. She was so loving and caring. No matter how much time had passed since my last visit, she would always make me feel welcome. Even as a grown woman visiting with my son, she still ensures I get a cup of tea or some biscuits. She is a loving soul. As a young teen, she and her husband opened their home when I needed it the most, and I am grateful to have experienced her love, kindness, and laughter.
June Bunbury, may you sleep in eternal peace and may your laughter live on in our memories.
Love Rochelle
