Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend.

Olivia Amelia Cecilia Penha de Souza (nee Fernandes), of Scarborough, Ontario, passed
away peacefully on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Olivia was a
loving grandmother, mother, devoted daughter, sister, and friend whose kindness,
generosity, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Born on November 13th in Nairobi, Kenya, and just 11 days shy of her 80th birthday,
Olivia’s life was notably marked by her deep commitment to her faith, family and
friends. She was fiercely proud of her children, their spouses and her three grandsons,
and her greatest joy was spending time with them—whether it was phone
conversations, sharing stories, teaching life lessons, or simply enjoying a meal together.
Olivia’s warmth and love were a steady presence in their lives, and her grateful family
will forever carry her memory with them.

Well-known for her kindness and compassion towards others, Olivia was always ready
to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. Whether it was offering
support to a friend or comforting a family member, she was a beacon of compassion,
always putting others first. Her ability to offer comfort and warmth during difficult
times will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to receive her care.

Olivia had a passion for gardening, and her green thumb transformed her home and
garden into a beautiful and blossoming haven. She found joy and solace in tending to
her plants, watching them grow, and sharing her love of nature with others. She would
often share the flowers, seeds and fruits of her harvest with neighbours and friends.
Her home, filled with vibrant and often repotted greenery, was a reflection of the
nurturing spirit she brought to all aspects of her life.

In addition to her family and gardening, Olivia enjoyed phone conversations with
friends, walks and fitness classes, her daily devotion to Mass and prayers, relaxing by
solving crosswords, reading the daily newspaper, and following the events around the
world. She also treasured her outings with friends for coffee, where she would share
laughter, stories, and the simple joys of life. Her friendships were an essential part of
her life, and she was deeply grateful for the close bonds she formed over the years with
friends around the world.

Olivia was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and cousin, always there for her family with
love and support. She will be remembered for her strength, caring nature, gentle spirit,
and her remarkable ability to acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries, making others
feel valued and loved.

Olivia is survived by her beloved children Alison (Gerald) and David (Sheri), her
grandchildren Joshua, James and Conner, her siblings Alberto (Olive) and Gloria
(Victor), godchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and other family members and
friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased by her parents, Thome and
Maria Fernandes, her brother Alfredo and her beloved husband of 43 years, Tony.

Please join the family in celebrating Olivia’s life. A visitation will be held on Sunday,
November 10, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ogden Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will
be celebrated on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Parish (21
Leith Hill Rd., North York). Interment will follow at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery
