At 17 I met Myrtle for the first time and immediately realized she was a treasure in our family. She was warm, kind, soft spoken and loving.. Her culinary skills were excellent and savored by many. I always felt welcomed in her home, a peaceful refuge. Our family has lost a treasure. No more Christmas cake from the Paul’s kitchen, no Singapore noodle like Myrtles. You are loved, you are missed, you are remembered. ❤️

Q: What will you never forget about Myrtle? A: It was Christmas and the family had gathered at Gary and Donna's for a wonderful meal and a festive time spent with family. Dinner was finished and I commented on a little Christmas plate she was holding. I mentioned that the plate was so cute with its curled edges and Christmas theme engraved in the centre. She handed me the plate and said "take it......and think of me every time you use it". Well, I think of Myrtle every time I open that cabinet and see the little plate sitting amongst the others. It's not Christmas yet, but I will use that plate today and think of Myrtle with fondness. Thank you for the memory Myrtle. Rest easy.

I feel so lucky and grateful to have grown up with an auntie like Myrtle in my life. She was one of the most caring, generous and humble people I have known and she will be greatly missed. I cherish all the memories we shared on family trips, around the table for holiday meals, gardening, enjoying afternoon tea or her cooking lessons, or just relaxing and watching our favourite mystery shows. Here are a few snapshots from her visit to Vancouver, when we explored the city and shared a lot of joy and laughter. Love you always, Myrtle. ❤️✨
