Obituary of Mr. Daniel Mason
On Friday August 30th Daniel Emanuel Vincent Mason, better known as Danny, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Sunnybrook hospital. He suffered a stroke a few days before his 82nd birthday.
Danny was born in beautiful Georgetown, Guyana on August 15th, 1942, to parents Winifred Jarvis and Daniel Emmanuel Mason. After arriving in Canada in 1968, he attended George Brown College. He married Mavis Mayers and they had two boys, Daniel Jr. and Damon.
Danny joined to City of York (Toronto) in 1970 as a draftsman. He was an active member in the employee’s union and ended his career as a Municipal License Officer in 2012.
Danny loved being with his long-time friends and spending time with is grandchildren Daniel, Hendrix and Taya.
He was an active and proud member of various community organizations including the Tutorial High School Alumni Association and the Buxton Association of Guyana.
In 2023, Danny and his youngest son Damon started a nonprofit Foundation called The Soul On Ice Foundation, to help kids advance their skills in hockey.
In December 2023 Danny married his long-time friend and companion Margaret Lynch.
Danny is survived by his daughters Donna Mason-Agard and Denise Mason, his son Damon Mason and wife Margaret Lynch.
As per his wishes, Danny will be cremated and a celebration of life will be announced soon.
