Obituary of Mrs. Ivy Violet Williams
It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend.
Ivy Violet Williams was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on May 9th, 1931. She was the eldest of four children (including brothers Arthur, Alvin and Aseung) born to Thompson and Louise Lyew.
She aspired to be a doctor when she was very young. She was a good student who found learning Chinese so easy that she began teaching it to others when she was only 16. Ivy was alway so proud that many of her young students became so successful in life.
Ivy had a full, rich life filled with music, learning, dancing and so many good friends. She was also very active with the Caribbean Chinese Association (CCA), and sang with the Sweet Adelines in Toronto.
In January of 1951, smitten with Stanford Williams, she got married and raised a family. She is survived by Stan, daughter June, sons Stan Jr, Mike and Dean, and grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas and Geoffrey.
In honour of mom, and the amazing care she received over the years, donations to the Scarborough Health Network would be appreciated. Tributes can also be left at the Ogden Funeral Home website.
