Our heartfelt sympathy to Michael, David, Christina, Isaac and Sarah on the passing of Uncle Jim and may he rest in peace. My memories of Jim were of a humorous, deadpan and unflappable man who exuded kindness and common sense. I paid a number of visits to 40 Hosey Hill Crescent in the mid 90's when I lived down the road in Chicago and he (and Noreen) couldn't have been more welcoming. He did raise an occasional eye brow when Michael and David were driving to Buffalo for chicken wings. I also have great memories of him serving us a drink in the basement bar. One of my regrets was not going to him for a suit when he was employee of the year in Sears. I hope my memories here are accurate. Anyway a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathy to Michael, David, Chris, Isaac and Sarah on the passing of Jim R.I.P. We will miss our regular conversations with him. We have wonderful memories of holidays spent with Jim and Noreen R.I.P. in Rome and Australia, and of course our visits to Toronto and their visits to us in Dublin were always special occasions. Such a kind and gentle person. I have one memory that stands out from when Joe (Taaffe), Sean (Holden) and I stayed with you all when we first arrived in Canada on our way to Vancouver. During the week or so that we stayed with you we were introduced to the importance of the Stanley Cup in the Canadian psyche during a very pleasant visit. When we picked up the drive-away car that we were to deliver to Calgary we had to swing by Uncle Jim at work to get him to show us the various intricacies of our one year old Lincoln Continental. He was so envious of these three whipper-snappers, heading out across the country in this luxury car.

My deepest sympathy to you all, Michael, David , Christina, Sarah and Isac on the loss of your Dad, Father-in-law, Grandfather. To us in Ireland he was uncle Jimmy, and when the Toronto gang came home to Bishopswood, and the Ryan's came from Dublin, we, the country cousins, thought we had it made. Always a gentleman, I will especially never forget the welcome and care he showed Dad when we visited for Jimmy and Noreen's 4Oth anniversary. He treated us with such kindness. Dear Michael, David, Christine, Isaac and Sarah, my deepest sympathies to you all on the passing of your dad, father-in-law, grandfather. His passing marks the end of a generation of very fine couples in the Nolan, Ryan and White familes and whose memory, teaching and spirit, I pray, remains robust amongst us cousins, their children and grandchildren in Canada and Ireland. My earliest memory and a happy memory of my uncle Jimmy is of a visit to the Nolan shop in Portlaoise (Ireland) in the 1960s. On this visit and at every other time we met since or spoke on the phone, my uncle Jimmy treated me with friendship and respect. I treasure these precious memories I have of knowing this fine man.
