Obituary of Mrs. Caterina Viscomi

Caterina Viscomi passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in San Vito Sullo Ionio, Calabria, Italy, Caterina and her young family followed her husband Francesco to Toronto in 1965, eventually settling in Scarborough.

A tireless worker and beacon of strength, she was committed to help her children grow and succeed, which culminated in all five graduating from university. Her warm home was always a place for family gatherings, especially fun, loud, and raucous Sunday dinners. Throughout her retirement years, Caterina kept busy by cooking, sewing, and tending to a spectacular backyard garden. She also always won at bocce.

Predeceased by Francesco, Caterina is survived by her children Salvatore (Paula nee Frasca), Giuseppe (Annette, nee Brisebois), Maria (David Muir, deceased), Vito (Karen, nee Evans) and Lucia (Arturo De Marchi), and her brother Vito Barbuto of Aston Pennsylvania, as well as her beloved 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Her family will miss her immensely.
