Dear Helen
I first met you when I just came out of my diapers. Our families came to Canada as refugees in the mid-70s & as fate would have it we ended up in the same building in Scarborough. We went to the same public schools & high school during the week and our weekends (rain or shine) were always spent in the many parks located around the GTA but mostly Morningside park and Adams park. Our parents would have the souvla cooking while us kids would be playing games on the grass or in the forest. Those were the good old days. The winter months we would have snowballs fights in the playground or play board games in each others apartments. We spent countless years celebrating our birthdays together as you can see from the pictures I have included : )
You were cute as a kid and have grown into a beautiful woman with the best laugh and your wonderful sense of humour. My family moved away when I was 16 years old but we never lost contact for long over the years. I would text you on your birthday even if it was once a year. I considered the "Frangous" as family even though we were not blood related. You were taken from us at a very young age but your impact on us will never be forgotten.
My condolences to her husband Gus and his family and to Helens mom, brother Alec, his wife Rita, her niece Katrina and nephew Adriano. May she rest in peace. It brings me comfort to know that she has been reunited with her Father and Grandmother now.
I will not say Goodbye to you as I know our souls will meet again someday Helen. We are all here on this Earth temporarily and go back to the Light we were born from. Your light will shine bright for years to come.
Love you always,
Lambros

I was completely shocked and saddened to hear of Helens passing, as I had just spoken to her and Gus 2 days before Christmas, and though I knew she had been battling cancer, I really felt that she would get through this stage as she had done for several years now. Helen was extremely stoic and optimistic all along, which goes in line with her character, as all who knew her. Helen was a genuine person that we rarely encounter who was ALWAYS smiling, happy and uplifting to everyone around her, and never seemed to have a bad day. Helen was very giving and cared for anyone who was a friend of hers. She cared deeply for her family and spoke of them often.
My sincere condolences go out to Gus and Helens entire family. It just seems so unfair that someone so good and so young with so much vitality and life to live should be taken from this world, so we can only hope that we will all meet again.

My sincere condolences to Helen's entire family. I was surprised and saddened to hear about Helen's passing. Almost all of my memories of Helen are childhood memories. Growing up just happened in a heartbeat, but the memories of childhood stay with us for the long haul. When I look back all these years, I look back with gratitude and I smile at all those times our families spent at Morningside Park having souvla while we played "koumeres" or the very last time I danced with Helen was at her wedding. Helen was such a great person and will be sadly missed. I'm deeply sorry your family is experiencing the pain of a loss like this. My heart goes out to each of you.
Wishing you all the peace and comfort possible,
Mary Agathocleous and family

My soul feels so heavy .. why?? You were so strong koukla mu …
9 of December we was talking on video call amd was like before we was laughing.. i was so happy for you .. i had a party and you ask me to order for you the Argyros song “Elpida mu -my hope” the singer didnt know rhis new song sooo i took the microphone and sang for you (i was soo bad) …. Zo ke anapneo me tin elpida pos kapia mera tha rtheis —- i live and breathe hopping that some day you will come …
Just like the song say we make our dreams and plans that in summer all the family would come in Cyprus to celebrate.
Is so hard to say goodbye .. you have meant so much to me words cant say what i truly mean.
I just want to say that i love you i will miss you and you will always be in my.

This is my Helen. This is how I will always remember her. From the day 27 years ago we discovered that another Cypriot family lived across the street from us, on our new subdivision, we have shared hundreds of coffees, meals and laughs. More like a cousin than a neighbour, Helen was a constant in our lives with her sparkly eyes and hilarious sense of humour. My heart goes out to her dear family and Gus, her rock who has shown unwavering strength in being there every step and hurdle along Helen’s battle. I have never seen anyone show more grace and positivity in the face of such adversity. Helen always had a huge smile, a joke and tried encouraging US. She never complained and vowed to fight to the end. I will desperately miss sharing a snack we baked with our moms and practising village Cypriot with fits of giggles. It won’t be the same. And those lazy summer afternoons we sat on my mom’s porch while neighbours strolled by to share a snack or a laugh will forever feel empty and quiet. I promise to continue the tradition to entertain our moms and look after them just like you did. This was a big concern of yours. As you kept saying to me, now I will say to you….. I GOT THIS.
Say hello to dad and yiayia. Until we meet again. Love you, Marina

Dearest Gus and Family,
We are so deeply sorry for the devastating loss of your beloved Helen. Your amazing wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and more! Still in shock and disbelief; we are blessed to have had Helen as our neighbour and privileged to call her our friend. As anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her knows, Helen was an incredible human being - most beautiful inside and out. Full of life, positivity, great energy, and always so giving and thoughtful. What a gift it was to connect with her; I profoundly regret not reaching out more often. I’d spend hours chatting and laughing with her if I could. I admired her incredible strength, optimism, perseverance, and perspective on everything.
We hope and pray that you all will find a small bit of comfort knowing that she is resting peacefully and is reunited with her beloved Dad. May warm memories bring you comfort now and always. While she left us on Earth far too soon, Heaven has gained a beautiful angel that I know is shining down on us.
Forever in our hearts and minds. We love you and will miss you dearly Helen. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your phenomenal life. May God rest your soul eternally and care for your loved ones left behind until reunited again.
With love and support in anyway we can,
Jen, Adam, Nico, and Stella

Gus, I'm truly sadden by Helen's passing she was an amazing woman. We became breast cancer warriors being diagnosed 3 weeks apart. She was always positive and offered encouragement to me even though she too had her battle. Just weeks before her passing she reached out to me and was so happy that my annual follow up was a positive one. I told her I felt guilty as Her's had returned. She said to me, and I quote "Don't feel guilty, be happy and love life". I promise to honour those words in her memory. Helen my you rest in eternal peace, a beautiful soul gone way too soon!

Dear Gus and family,
Please accept my absolute deepest condolences. When mom told me about Helen’s passing I was in total shock. I just saw you both. I remember telling Helen about how beautiful her hair has grown back and to send some tips to my mom!
Helen was originally diagnosed the same time as my mom Cathy. From day one Helen had the kindest and strength to fight. She was a constant support system to my mom. Always sending the most supportive, uplifting positive messages to mom even though Helen was fighting her own battle. I can’t thank her enough for always being a positive influence in my mom’s life. Helen you are an inspiration to many. May god bless you as you beginning this new journey and give strength and love to your family here.
You have left the most amazing memories and I am heartbroken that such a gem was taken to soon.

Dearest Helen,
39 years ago I met my adorable sweet friend then sister-in-law Helen, whom was 14 years old, when I was dating Alec. Helen and I connected immediately, she was like the little sister I never had. We shopped together, I hung out with her friends, we baked bread together, and we shared a whole loaf of fresh bread with butter. We have had so many amazing memories together. Helen was very domestic at her young age, until she got her license and purchased her new car. Then, there was no stopping her. Working for Toronto Police Service from age 16, Helen grew up fast, and she learned a lot about the real world. She was smart, a quick learner and became a free spirit.
She travelled with her many friends, enjoyed her freedom, and was extremely happy.
In 1995, Helen met Gus her wonderful husband, whom meant the world to her.
Helen and Gus were married for 26 beautiful years. They travelled, enjoyed each other, and were devoted to their friends and family. Gus loved Helen and has given her the freedom to live her life her way, and took care of her to the very end. Helen and Gus are incredibly special to us, we have spent COUNTLESS times together.
Helen is my best, favourite, incredibly helpful, giving sister (in-law). I was blessed to have her in my life, she would do absolutely anything for me. She loved her brother dearly, and respected him and always turned to him for advice and guidance.
Helen’s niece Katrina and nephew Adriano, were adored by her as if they were her children!
Helen fought everyday to keep strong, to attend Katrina and Mike’s wedding, whom she welcomed Mike with open arms in love and respect.
Adriano was Helen’s special person she had such a soft spot for him and would do anything for her boy, she absolutely loved Vanessa, whom is Adriano’s long term girlfriend for years.
Helen had recently mention how she was looking forward to retiring in a few years, she said how her and I would watch the trees, enjoy, and relax. How I wish this dream of hers came true!
Helen, we will miss you everyday. Life has changed for us now, it will never be the same, a great big void left in our hearts. But, I know we will meet again, I will be observant and on guard for you for the rest of my days.
I love you now and always.

Kedves Helen! (Dear Helen) Deep and dear friendship is not measured by how long you know someone or how often you see them - quite simply it can be sincerity, transparency ,kindness and ability to enjoy laughter together.
You always made me feel welcome to 1510.
You encouraged me on new advenutures.
You were clever in humour on how you poked fun at Gus and I on our "love" for sports
You brought the best out of me when I did not have the best day.
You were sincere.
We had our own code for respect (x3)
There was a Christian love for hope in our all of our dreams and aspirations
Your impact on me always will continue. I said thank you on this when we saw each other last and I promise to keep saying thank you over the course of time.

Dear Gus,
Iam beyond heartbroken to learn of Helen’s passing. The minute I read Darrin’s message my heart sank and thought of the unimaginable pain losing a spouse and best friend. I feel like Helen has been in your life forever, as long as you have had that white Toyota parked at sir Lancelot everyday it seems. The way she embraced Bones like a brother melted me and I thank god you have that memory of being in Hungary all together. You and Helen were so supportive when Bear passed and I remember that like it was yesterday. She had a presence like no other with her one liners and a force of energy. She had Chip and I literally in stitches laughing at the keg that night before Darrin’s wedding celebration in Toronto. .. She was hysterical. . I look for signs all the time and I did receive one the day Helen passed. I turned on my car and on the radio Rush was playing, the song was Tom Sawyer. I said thank you to the universe as I know god and Helen are watching over you. The fact that Rush was playing means you are not alone. May everyone take a page from yours and Helen’s book and love story. Chip and I sending love and come to Charleston anytime. God bless you and your family. Much love, Boo xo

Dear Gus and Family,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss as well as to your broader family and friends.
I remember meeting Helen when she came with Georgina to pick me up from the airport when I made
the trip for Georgina and Amedeo's wedding back in early 2008. Helen was very charming, had a bubbly
personality and possessed a great sense of humour. I'll always remember that big smile on Helen's face
and how much fun we all had together. You're all in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you all the peace and comfort possible.
Con Nicolis

Resilience = Helen. Our hearts very heavy. Helen, you were a beacon of resilience, courage, and determination, inspiring me with your positive outlook and incredible zest for life. You taught me the value of living fully and finding strength in adversity. The memories we shared forever treasured and your impact on life immeasurable. Forever thankful meeting you at Food City in 1991 (thank you Mary & Tommy) and will forever cherish our incredible memories together throughout the years including feeding Gus the grapes. Friday nights will never be the same.
Rest in peace my sweet friend. Until we meet again.

Helen and Gus welcomed me and my husband (from Cleveland, Ohio in visit to her brother Alec and sister in law Rita) into her home, “for Coffee”, but it was much more than that along with warmth and friendship. We fell in love with her personality and kindness. We are blessed to have known her and are mourning this terrible loss. We believe that Helen in the beatific vision of God that has embraced her for eternity. Life is finite but Love lives forever.

Helen
Helen came into our lives and suddenly was gone. Many have said they would like to be like her, live as she lived, laugh as she laughed, smile as she smiled. She made our days much brighter with her friendly chatter and wicked sense of humour
Helen had a zest for life, with an energy that is rarely seen.. She stayed in our lives for a while, left footprints in our hearts, and just as quickly she left us. She will remain forever in our hearts and minds.
It feels sad to say goodbye so soon So instead, I’ll just say “we love you Helen, knowing you’re always with us.”
