Mammy (Anna Yee Ching) was the name my family called her, since her was an integral part of our inner family circle. Whist I grew up at Lachoos Road in Penal, my grandmother Mayee/Baby Ramtahal (decease) and Mammy were very close friends.
The friendship of these two wonderful ladies transcended into a delightful extended family, nurtured with a genuine love, respect and gratitude for each other.
After migrating to Canada many years ago, Mammy kept in touch with our family through her phone calls and visits whenever in Trinidad. The shop/grocery she established with Papa (her husband) and her family in her early years at the corner of Lachoos and Rock Road Penal, Trinidad is still a landmark to this day.
On a personnel note, I am thankful for the cherished memories of her warm welcoming smile, her comforting hugs, and cheerful personality. I remember the beautiful piggy bank she gifted my cousin Sheree Ann and myself as children, the feeling of awe and amazement walking through her kitchen garden with grapes growing on trellis, and her delicious Chinese pow’s.
Mammy you will live forever in our hearts!
To the Yee Ching family may God give you all the comfort and strength needed at this time and may the love and beautiful memories lighten your hearts.

Dearest Yee Ching Family,
I have just received the very sad news of the passing away of your beloved Mom.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Surely she is now with Our Heavenly Father.
We thank God for the good and long life, full of love and care which she showed not only to each and all of you, but also to me. I have very fond memories of her joyfulness, cheerful company and fine sense of humour when visiting her with Marmee. She was indeed very special.
We pray for her eternal rest and for strength, comfort and consolation for all of you in this moment of great sorrow.
We have another star shining above!

Memories of cherished friends last a lifetime! Dear Aunty Choy Tai we graciously thank you for your friendship, wisdom, compassion, joy, stories, your wittiness, sense of humour and infectious laughter. But most of all the genuine and sincere love you had for my mother Yun Lain. You both together with Aunty Moyin shared a colourful journey since 1947. From China to Trinidad and then to Canada, never forgetting your roots or friendships. Thank you for those memorable stories and great memories!
