Obituary of Mrs. Delores Pinnock
DELORES PINNOCK
August 10, 1936 - September 24, 2023
DELORES PINNOCK (née Burke) passed away peacefully at Scarborough Grace Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Sunday, September 24, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends. Delores was the beloved mother of Michael Gray (Vivienne), Carol Pinnock, and Ingrid Smithen (Lorenzo); devoted grandmother to Monique-Renée, Joshua, Jonathan, Danielle, Aislyn, and Kadeem. Delores is survived by many siblings as well as a large extended family throughout Canada, the United States, and her native Jamaica.
Delores was born on August 10, 1936 in Springvale, St. Catherine, Jamaica to Violet Lehoung (née Brown) and Phillip Charles Burke. She attended Victoria Primary School in the town of Linstead, and spent her childhood and early adulthood in Jamaica.
In 1973 Delores emigrated to Canada, where she lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her husband Errol Roy Pinnock and children. Delores' career spanned various industries; she ultimately found her vocation in the culinary arts, where she excelled. Delores was passionate about cooking and baking, much to the delight of her family and friends. She worked with The Sisterhood of Saint John the Divine for 25 years through their transitions from Saint John's Convent, to Cana Place, and to Saint Paul L'Amoreaux Centre - from which she retired in 2001. Upon retirement Delores spent her time caring for her six grand-children; she was also a snowbird, travelling annually to Florida.
Delores' peaceful and calming presence was appreciated by all who had the pleasure of interacting with her. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, loyalty, and resilience leave an indelible mark; she will be greatly missed by all, including her church community at Wesley Chapel Free Methodist Church.
The Service will be live-streamed and the link may be found on the Ogden Funeral Homes website, ogdenfuneralhomes.com, as it is made available.
