Today we lay to rest our Mother, our grand Mother, our confidant, our friend. To many she was all these things and more. My wife Susan Henry has known her most of her life and me Alff Henry for over 30 years. I am not sure if she has ever been upset or mad at anyone because I’ve never seen it, ever. What a smile and warmth when she sees you. It just makes you happy.
Del as we affectionately called her was a cook professionally and she loved to cook for her family and friends. Myself not being a professional found common ground in our talk about our Jamaican cuisine.
We spent one Saturday recently with my family where Del and Margaret sat and spoke all day long. That day I made them Red Snapper and ground food. Del ate everything (lol) only bones were left and said Alff that was delicious. Del and Margaret spent all day in the backyard with music playing until evening time talking about /only God knows. But they were happy. That made me smile.
Two weeks later we went to pick up Del for another visit to our place to sit, eat and talk in the yard. After picking up Del, we decided to go to Nicey restaurant on her request for food. Del and Margaret were both in the in the back seat and I missed my stop. Lawd, if they didn’t try and give me directions. Del said you pass IKEA? Well Margaret jumps right in and asked who name IKEA. Well Susan and I laughed all the way to the Nicey’s restaurant..
Del will be missed by some many people and every time my wife and I think of her there will always be a smile on our face.
We love you Del and you’ve done well for your family and friends. Until we all meet again. May the Lord hold you in his warm embrace and may our ancestors take you by the hand and welcome you.
From the Henrys

My sister, the last moments I spent with you are one of the most precious gifts you gave to me. I will always cherish that smile on your face when you opened the door after I returned from the airport. My flight home was cancelled, giving us an opportunity to spend the next two days alone together. You, in your recliner, and I, on the couch, under our blankets. We watched TV, napped, reminisced and talked about the future. You even normalized for me the need to have difficult conversation for times like this, despite my resistance. Those memories are what will help me to celebrate your life more than I mourn your death.
Thank you, Sis. I love you.

Pea, you were more than a step-daughter to me. You were a friend and a sister with whom I shared countless moments of joy and sorrow. We spent many days talking about the struggles of life. We laughed together and cried together, then drew strength from each other to carry on. And finally, with the grace of God, we got to the point where we could share our children’s successes.
My dear Pea I look forward to seeing you again. May you find perfect rest in the arms of our Savior. I love you.

Dear Carol, Mike and Ingrid,
My deepest heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Prayers go up for your peace and comfort.
I will always remember the kindness and love she showed to my family and I for many years when my parents and Mom were neighbours at 10 Bridletown Circle. When my father and mother passed a few years apart, on both occasions your mother was encouraging and supportive. I will always remember her loving words, especially after my mother passed. All I can say is that a true mother is one who is nurturing not only to her own children but to those who are not.
Most recently, Mrs. Pinnock instructed me in preparing her famous pineapple upside down cake which one of my favorite cakes. As long as memory serves me, I will cherish that time with your mother. Thank you for sharing Mom with those of us who have similar memories. ❤️
Dear Mrs Pinnock, sleep in God's perfect peace.
Love,
Jackie Russell and Family

I met Mrs Pinnock through her daughter, my best friend, Carol Pinnock, almost 30 years ago. I am forever grateful for the gift of Carol, who is who she is, in part, because of her Mother's example.
Mrs Pinnock always impressed me to be a soft spoken, gentle yet resilient, dignified woman of endurance, pure love and deep faith in God. To God be the glory!
One of my favorite memories of Mrs Pinnock is when she joined my Mother, the late Faith Wiltshire and Alicia Excell's late Mother, Nellie Excell, to celebrate their daughters' Carol, Alicia and myself, 30th birthday celebration! We were so touched and honoured to have our Mothers there, women whom we all seek to emulate, in one way or another, as we live out the remainder of our lives.
Rest in Peace precious and irreplaceable Mrs. Pinnock. Until we meet again!
