I met Barb at our church a number of years ago and just knew we would be friends. I coordinated funeral hospitality for 8 years and Barb was always eager to help. She always brought her delicious butter tarts and everyone loved them. They represented Barb -always with a smile of love and caring. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Dear Steve, Chris and Lori - Don't know where to begin or end about your wonderful Mom. I feel like she was part of my all of my life. Barb and Mom were the best of friends for so many years. Their crafts and scrapbooking, selling at the various craft fairs. And then when Mom started with Alzheimer's so young, Barb was there to be a gentle friend for so many years. Barb was of course a very special friend to Dad as well! She kept him moving and young and travelling as long as possible! So glad to have joined them on our visit to Norway 10 years ago. What a fabulous time we had.
The photo is from 1992, Mom and Barb visiting Nanny at Cedarbrook Lodge over the holidays.
Hugs to you all. How wonderful to celebrate this special person tomorrow.
Love, Janyte and Andy

Our deepest condolences to Steve, Chris and Lori Ann. Barb had such an infectious laugh and was always fun to be around. She was kind, considerate and compassionate and always made you feel welcome. I have fond memories of get togethers, parties and camping up at Muskoka Glens campground. Playing board games and card games together always produced a lot of laughs. Barb was a steadfast friend to our mom and visited her regularly, particularly when she was in long term care after dad passed. What a wonderful person and such a positive influence on all of our lives. Rest in peace. Love, Bruce, Rene-Ann and Rachel Hemmings.

The first time I met Barb when she knocked on my door carrying a tray of warm muffins. She introduced herself as “The Muffin Lady “. In no time we became good friends. We had many meals together as she loved to entertain as well as going out to a restaurant. I would get a call to ask me if I had my supper, she’d come over with a container of stew or soup. When I picked up Chinese or chicken for us her words would be”great, I’ll bring the wine”. We travelled to Quebec on the train and Ottawa to see a concert or just to Port Perry to sit by the lake eating fish and chips. I always had to ask her to wait for me as I couldn’t keep up to her. I miss her so very much. I know she will be missed by many.

We were fortunate to see Aunt Barb at our family reunion in 2019. In perfect form Aunt Barb made the rounds chatting with everyone and laughing that unforgettable laugh. I will always remember how Aunt Barb inspired me to keep moving with yoga and exercise along with fun memories of family gatherings as a child. Rest in Peace ❤️

Barb,
A fireball, always on the move
A dream catcher, keeping her children safe and focused
A Godmother, never forgetting a birthday, or to bring delicious cake
A friend, who discussed fitness, and taught it to others
A phoenix, whose aura will always return when needed
A Matriarch, who left footprints worth following...

Being friends with Barb Haug was wonderful. She is very much missed. We met at Lynde House Museum in 2015 and enjoyed many delightful times together with other museum volunteers over the years. Barb was full of life and energy. She always had great ideas with willing hands to help bring them about.
I was blessed when I lived at a distance from the museum, and Barb opened her home for me to stay with her when I worked on projects at the museum. After hours I would “go home” to Barb’s, and she would insist on making me dinner. In fact, when I would stay too long to finish things up, she would phone the museum and say, “Ok, Trina, time to quit; supper is ready!” I would pack myself into the car and arrive at her apartment exhausted. After dinner, we always sat and talked. I could always run things by Barb and ask her opinion on what to do.
Barb routinely volunteered dozens of butter tarts for teas and other museum events. In fact, they were one of the most in-demand treats offered and would disappear fast. Barb dressed up with the rest of us in costume and volunteered at events too numerous to list here. Barb would also roll up her sleeves, meeting me the night before some big event and helping me set things up for the next day.
We shared many laughs together. Barb had the kind of faith that ministers preach about. I don’t know of many who took the Golden Rule as seriously as she did. I know she volunteered for the Red Cross and talked about her experiences there. Barb made a difference wherever she went in such a humble and unassuming way, and she touched many of our lives with joy and grace.
Through faith, we know that life in God is everlasting. I am sure Barb woke up in Heaven free of any earthly pain, welcomed by her loved ones who’ve gone ahead, and she has undoubtedly been presented with her very own angel wings for this life she lived so well.

Barb was a valued volunteer with the Whitby Historical Society, and often referred to Lynde House Museum as her "second home". She was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by everyone here.

Q: How did you meet Mrs. Barbara Ann?
A: I first met Barb at exercise classes at Whitby Seniors. We instantly hit it off. We walked at the Abilities Centre and formed a wonderful friendship. We took many trips by bus and in my convertible, having lots of fun.
Barb loved to entertain and I got to have many wonderful meals at her place.
We went to visit her son & daughter in law in Milton & her son asked me what I thought of her. I said, she’s a combination of speedy Gonzales and the energy bunny, I couldn’t keep up with her.
She was so full of life and always with such a positive attitude. She certainly was an inspiration to me and I will miss her so much.
She has left a big void in many people’s hearts but will always be remembered fondly.

The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand
The sun goes down but gentle warmth still lingers on the land
The music stops but carries on in sweet joyful refrain
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains
