Both Mrs. Beattie and myself are so very sorry to hear of Delwin’s passing. He was an important part of our lives for many years and lived with us off and on for nearly six years. He was a part of our family in so many ways and will always hold an important place in our hearts. Rest in Peace Delwin.

I haven't seen Delwin in years, but remember him well from high school. He was tough, in a good way, and kind and loyal to his friends. While I'd more accurately call him a fondly remembered acquaintance, he earned my respect and I valued him as a person and peer. I remember him fondly singing Ghetto Red Hot by Supercat, and also one day in Grade 12 advanced math in a portable where Delwin passed me a note (as we often did seated beside each other whenever both of us weren't skipping, which was admittedly rare). The note was folded tightly and said, "Open at ____ time" (time being around the end of class). Delwin then stood up, walked out of the portable and only returned an hour later. In the meantime our teacher had just written a long (full page) overhead sheet of a single, multipart question including numerous steps combining the toughest parts of the whole term. It took the class an entire hour and five full overhead sheets to work out the problem. Delwin came back in just before completion and told me to open the note I had completely forgotten about. I did so only to reveal the right answer. I forget the teacher and everyone else in the class, but I'll always remember Delwin's remarkable capacity to work out complex mathematics in his head and for his kindness to those in his circle. Rest in peace, Delwin.

Delwin always enjoyed solving a good puzzle and playing a good game of chess. I will miss his smile and the joy he gave us for many years. Rest in Peace Delwin.

I knew Delwin when we were teenagers. He was that older cool kid that taught me cool stuff. He crushed at chess and could outsmart most. He loved joking around about stupid things even though he was so smart. He bought me my first girly mag. I didn't even know his name was Gregory. He was just Del, my friend.

Our condolences to his family, especially to his sister. Delwin was our roommate for years, as well as a friend of Shawn's growing up. He always kept his area so clean; I used to tease him about it. We'd fight about his bird as I was terrified of the thing and he let it fly around the whole basement, so I'd have to argue with Delwin to put it in its cage so I could do laundry without freaking out. We had a million conversations on our back deck. He was extremely intelligent, funny, sarcastic and particular. He was very protective of his friends. Again, our deepest condolences Virginia.
