Obituary of Ms. Norma Jean Reynolds

Please share a memory of Ms. Norma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

March 4 1934 - December 26 2022.

Norma Jean Reynolds was born in Pear Tree Grove, Jamaica to Doris Lawrence and Mr. Reynolds.

The only word that can describe Norma Jean was "trailblazer" she was surely a woman of substance. Educated in England, holding a Masters Degree in Nursing during a time when most women hadn't pursued advanced degrees. Norma Jean immigrated to Canada in the early sixties. She was a passionate nursing educator at Humber College School of Nursing where she garnered a reputation of being "tough." Always a stickler for excellence, she armed her students with the knowledge to make it in the grueling profession of nursing.

Norma Jean had many passions, she enjoyed traveling the world and had a special love for Cartagena, Spain. Another, was her love for the Arts, she had a fervent adoration for the opera, theater and plays.

Yes, Norma Jean was what one could only describe as 'a cultured lady' and she made sure to introduce her young nieces to her love of the Arts and for this we will be eternally grateful.

She leaves behind siblings Juney Cynthia Rousseau, Ivy Effibel Shaw, Trevor Stephens, Belmont Avery Stephens (deceased), Donna Stephens Green (niece) and Dahlia Stephens (niece) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special acknowledgement must be made to her maternal Aunt, Miriam Lawrence who loved her, saw to her education and to whom Norma Jean owes much of her success in life.

Thank you to the staff at Sheppard Village for the kindness and caring they gave to Norma Jean during her ailing years.

A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Church in the Village (3760 Sheppard Ave. E., Scarborough). Urn Burial at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens.

May Norma Jean's soul continue to soar and rest in the arms of God knowing that she made a difference to those who knew her, loved her and called her daughter, niece, sister, aunt, teacher and friend.

"We love you"

Dahlia Stephens (niece)
