Obituary of Mr. Darshnanand

Darshnanand

November 11, 1929 – November 17, 2022

It is with both sadness and peace that we announce the death of Darshnanand, aged 93, on Thursday, November 17. Darshnanand was a dedicated civil servant in Georgetown, Guyana for many years before immigrating to Toronto, Canada in 1976 with his beloved wife, Ada, and their four children. Darshnanand was an avid reader and lover of music who was also a spiritual leader, deeply committed to the guidance and service of others. He was a longtime devotee of Sathya Sai Baba and was an engaged member of the Sathya Sai community, from which he derived immense joy and fulfillment. In his retirement, Darshnanand was a tireless volunteer, dedicating countless hours to providing comfort to patients at hospitals across the city. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all the communities that he touched with his calming spirit.

Son of the late Rameshwar (“Battulal”) and Subhadra Droom, of Beterverwagting, Guyana.

Husband of the late Chetrawatie (“Ada”).

Father of Jai, Geeta, Jeewan and Indira.

Father-in-law of Mala, Jagdish, Ann and Roger.

Grandfather of Jamille, Jhase, Kia and Jimmy.

Great-grandfather of Sohla and Amari.

Brother, Cousin and Uncle to members and descendants of the Singh family, the Droom family, and the Prasad family, residing in Canada, Guyana, the United States and Great Britain.
