Obituary of Mr. Sidney Sweetapple

Sidney Sweetapple

Sid passed away peacefully with his family at his side at The Scarborough Health Network, Centenary Hospital on August 1, 2022 following a very brief illness.

He was born at the Grace Hospital, St. John’s, Newfoundland and graduated from high school at The Salvation Army College and from Memorial University of Newfoundland. His early working life included a stint in banking and accounting followed by a life-long career in social services, first with the Newfoundland Government and then with the Province of Ontario, Ministry of Community and Social Services, retiring as a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Sid was a selfless, caring, compassionate, giving and forgiving person who always accentuated the positive and looked for the good in every situation.  His interests included genealogy, theology and history.

Predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Alice Sweetapple, he will be loved forever by Judy, his wife of 45 years, his daughter, Lori, whom he loved dearly, and his precious grandsons, Seamus and Patrick, who he cherished and to whom he devoted all his energies.  He will be remembered in the hearts of his siblings, Leslie (Dolly), Margie (late Rance), and Ruby (late Ben), as well as his extended family including brothers and sisters-in-law, his many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

We are saddened by our loss, but so inspired by your legacy.
