Please share a memory of Mr. Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness the family of Daniel Emanuel Vernon announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022. He was 91 years old. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his loving daughters Sandra (husband, Ian), Ann-Marie (Husband, Kevin), Dawn (fiancé, Douglas); grandchildren, Sean, Renee, Daniel, and Nala; many nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Vernon of 52 years and his siblings; Myrtle, Lou, Ula, Beered and Delta whom he loved dearly.

He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and ability to light up a room with jokes and storytelling, his love for gardening, planting fruits, vegetables, and an immaculate lawn. He was a proud Jamaican and especially enjoyed sharing his culture through food baking Easter buns to share with friends and family. His annual spicy Christmas sorrel drink made with a lot of ginger always set off the holiday season to a memorable start.  His competitive nature to organize domino matches with his friends and family was epic.

He was fulfilled by his Christian faith and was an active member at Malvern Christian Assembly.  He worked for the Toronto Transit Commission (T.T.C) at the Operations Branch, Hillcrest - Plant as a switch mechanic and retired after 30 years of service, receiving many safety awards and recognition for his time and dedication to his work.

We would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers for their dedication, time, care, and support. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., at Malvern Christian Assembly, 6705 Sheppard Ave. E, Scarborough, ON. Followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, or The Daily Bread Foodbank would be greatly appreciated.
