Obituary of Mr. Lance Goddard

Please share a memory of Mr. Lance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lance Kenton Goddard, beloved son of Katharine and Colin, tragically passed away on June 24th whilst vacationing in Jordan. He leaves behind his loving wife Jane and two sons Ethan and Cameron.

Lance’s passions included movies, photography, wildlife and nature, history, and of course travel. In 2020 he achieved his dream of stepping foot on all seven continents. A best-selling Canadian author and award-winning television producer, Lance had the Midas touch.

To paraphrase Seneca the Younger (4BC-65AD):

“One should not measure life by the number of years lived,

rather by what has been accomplished and how it was lived.”

~~~~~
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Lance Goddard, on Friday, June 24, while he was on holiday with his wife in Jordan. He had just celebrated his birthday on June 21 while on holiday.
Lance is survived by his wife Jane and sons Cameron and Ethan.
Most will know Lance as a talented video producer and have collaborated with him on many projects. He was the producer for most of AV’s filmed shoots and wrote, directed, and produced a ton of campaign and firm videos.
Lance had a prolific career in TV starting out at the Walt Disney Company, moving to CFTO, Global, AlarmForce, TVO and was a producer/writer/director of documentaries “Victory from Above”, “D-Day: Juno Beach, Canada’s 24 Hours of Destiny” and “Canada and the Liberation of the Netherlands. He was also a published bestselling author of “D-Day: Juno Beach” and “Canada and the Liberation of the Netherlands” and co-authored “Junior Field Guides” a series of children’s e-books with his wife. An avid and accomplished nature photographer, he was a contributor to GettyImages and Contrast. With so much knowledge in his brain it meant that he was a great conversationalist and loved to delve into meaty topics and issues—always bringing a unique viewpoint. I loved my chats with Lance!
An adventurer by heart, Lance was eager to explore places off the beaten track, fueled by his interest in history and ancient civilizations. But most importantly, his enthusiasm for sharing his travel tales was infectious. His phone was always packed with photos from every far-flung corner of the planet, often accompanied by a story that would make your jaw drop. And it was also through these anecdotes that we learned of his love for his family and the pride he had for the young men his sons turned out to be.
We will miss you, Lance.
