Ms. Lynette Azeez

Obituary of Ms. Lynette Azeez

Please share a memory of Ms. Lynette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lynette Audrey Olivia Azeez (nee Moffett), in her 79th year, passed away on March 11, 2022.  She was born to Winifred and Stanley Moffett Sr. on October 31, 1943, in Mahaica, Guyana.

Lynette, also known to many of you, as “Trixie” is survived by her 4 children; Michelle Benjamin, Karen Trench, Denise Azeez and Kerie Azeez; 5 grandchildren; Nathaniel, Xavier, Elijah, Emmanuel and Avery; and 4 remaining siblings; Stanley Moffett Jr., Lenox Moffett, Brenda Moffett, and Winifred Moffett-Wilson.

Trixie attended Tutorial High School and graduated Teacher’s Training College where she followed in her father’s footsteps and became a teacher until she left her homeland for Canada.

In 1974 she joined the Ontario Public Service (OPS) as an Administrative Clerk with the Ministry of Health and in January 1982, she transferred to the Toronto East Detention Centre as a Records Clerk. On June 11,1999, Trixie had the opportunity to retire, so she did.

Nana, as she was called by her grandchildren, devoted her retirement years to raising and spoiling them, being there for them when they came home from school, helping with homework, preparing their favourite dishes, attending graduations, celebrating their successes, supporting their sporting events, road trips to the East coast and proudly loving them unconditionally.

In October 2021, Trixie was finally able to return to her native Guyana after leaving in 1974. She spent 3 weeks and stayed in her family home. This was a dream come true.

Even though Trixie’s passing was sudden, she lived her life by saying what she needed to, to whom she needed to, when she needed to. Nothing was ever left unsaid. She was a true Scorpio!

Her children, grandchildren, sons in law, siblings, family and friends will miss her terribly and have so many fond memories of her, to help them through their grief.

“Don’t grieve for me, for now I am free. I’m following the path God laid for me. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy”
