My dearest Auntie Roney. I will miss our visits and little laughs, your little smirks that make me smile and all your wicked jokes. Most of all I will miss you so much. I will forever cherish you and all the great times we shared. I wish we could have had many more. The good Lord knew you had suffered enough and didn't want you to suffer anymore. You have so many loved ones waiting to take you gently into their loving arms. Go peacefully auntie, they love you and will take good care of you.
Love you and miss you.
Ann Marie

Our deepest condolences to our family at the loss of my loving sister Victoria DeCastro Geness. Ronie (as she was known by most) and I were the youngest of 5 surving siblings. We were the only 2 girls in the family so we were very close and loved each other very much. We never had any misunderstandings and we were best friends to the end. I will miss her very much and wish her to go in God's loving hands. I will miss our visits and little jokes. As her Brother in Law Ivan would say at every visit..."Keep your sunny side up Ronie". I know you are with the rest of our loving family and in good hands.
Our heart felt condolences to Peter who was by her side everyday as this will be a very difficult for him.
To all the staff at Rouge Valley Extendicare, thank you for taking such amazing care of my dear sister.
Your loving sister Georgeina (Gina) and brother in law Ivan Menezes and the rest of our family. RIP my sweet sister.

Eulogy for Victoria Geness (01/31/1932 – 02/09/2022)
I’d like to begin by thanking everyone in advance, who will visit, and pray with us, and our Mom at Ogden Funeral home on Tuesday, February 15th in the evening. I’d also like to thank all of you who will be with us, on Wednesday February 16th at St. Barnabas Church to celebrate our mom, Victoria Geness’ life.
A famous writer once said “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” If that is true, then our Mom made a great life. She was the most giving person I have ever know. She was one of the strongest women I’ve ever know, and I know that many of you will agree with these statements. She was one of my biggest supporters when I lost my son.
Victoria Geness was born Veronica De Castro on January 31st, 1932. Turns out she was registered as Victoria De Castro who was born on February 1st, 1932. She was born in the Village of Golden Grove, in British Guiana, which at the time was a British Colony in South America. Mom was one of 11 children born to Henrique Jardine De Castro and Virginia De Castro. She is pre-deceased by 9 siblings (Stella, Emily, Frankie, Thomas, Eddie, Flesie, Antonio, Vincent, and Gregory), 1 son (Alexander De Abreu), 1 Grandson (Mark Escourse), and 1 Great-grandson (Jaden Tjon a Tai). We are very fortunate to have her baby sister, Aunt Gena Menezes, and her husband, our Uncle Ivan Menezes, still with us. We are also extremely fortunate to have her husband, Peter Geness, still with us.
Mom was always a dedicated mother to her 6 surviving children. She loved, and was equally dedicated to her many grand-children, and great-grandchildren.
Mom left her home country of Guyana (yeah the name changed) and came to Canada in September 1983. Peter came shortly after her, and they were married. Mom was always extremely supportive to whomever was fortunate to be around her. She was there when Peter had diabetes, she was there for all of us when we lost Mark, and she was there when Peter had a stroke. It seemed like her mission in life was to take care of her family. Our Mom was always there whenever we needed her. Mom was filled with love and generosity for us and for others. She always offered a meal, or a place to stay. She listened to us, she laughed with us, she hugged us, she cried with us, and yes, she told us off whenever she felt it was necessary to do so. She never held anything back, you always knew how she felt about every situation. She used to say “I can’t zip my mouth”.
One of my favourite memories from my childhood was the trips we took in August to visit her parents, our grandparents, who lived in Cove & John on the East Coast. It was a full day’s trip. Mom would wake up very early in the morning and cooked forever to make sure she had enough food for us to eat on the trip, along with the bread, cakes, pineapple tarts, and meat patties that she baked the day before. She would wake us all up, made sure we showered, got dressed, and had a massive breakfast. We would then, all 7 of us, bundle into a taxi to the boarding area for the R.H. Carr. The R.H. Carr was a Ferry used for transportation between Mackenzie and Georgetown, and vise versa. After the boarding of people, produce, live stock and whatever else was carried by the R.H. Carr on that day, was completed, we set about our 8 hours journey on the Ferry. Can you imagine that … 1 adult, supervising, feeding, and taking care of 6 children all by herself, on an 8 hour Ferry ride? Yet, she did it every year. However, this was not the entire journey. We got off the Ferry and headed to the East Coast Car Park. We either got on a bus, which was built by her dad and probably her brothers, and travelled for another 18 miles to get to her parents place. This was the beginning of our 2 weeks visit with our grand-parents, our Aunts, Uncles and many Cousins. This trip was all about us. When the 2 weeks were up, the trip was reversed back to our home, which meant preparation for back to school. New uniforms, new shoes, new books, and new bags. She made it all possible because we all meant the world to her.
In conclusion, the world is a much sadder place without our mother, Victoria Geness. The world is also a much sadder place for Peter without his devoted wife in his life, no one can ever take her place. Also for us, the world is a very sad place without our mother in our lives. Our Mom touched each and everyone one of us, and left us with memories that we will cherish forever.
Rest In Peace our Darling Mother. We will never stop loving you, thinking of you, praying for you, and talking about you.
Thank you all very much for taking the time to come here, to celebrate with us, the life of our Mom, Victoria Geness.

My dearest sweet grandma I miss you so much. I will cherish our moments we had forever in my heart. Everyday that goes by the pain is getter more and more. I find comfort in knowing you are resting peacefully. I bet there must have been a huge celebration and welcome party for you in heaven as you join your loved ones who have passed. It's now our turn to miss you and wait for one day when we will see you again. Fly high my beautiful angel.
