I remember Alvaro at St Anthony’s Boy Scouts in Tanga. Alvaro was a great scout and I have many happy memories of the wonderful times when we were scouting in Tanga. We met several times in Toronto. Rest in Peace Alvaro and may Our Lord grant you eternal rest! Our sympathies to Rufina and the family, you are all in our prayers.

We were heartbroken to hear the news. Alvaro will be remembered for his kind, fun loving nature and for the care and support he showed to all. Alvaro was one of the kindest, gentlest person – always extending a kind word accompanied by a gentle smile. Rest in peace dear Alvaro. We will miss you!! Rufina, Terence, Taryn & Liam, Trevor, Owen and Jessica and the entire fernandes family – our thoughts are with all of you.

He had a heart of Gold to help which i remember allot. the first time I met him was in 1984 when he came on a trip to Mombasa Kenya. He was there for me and mum which i will never forget.

It is with great sadness we learn of the sudden passing away of our dear friend Alvaro. He was a very kind person, always willing to go out of his way to help anyone. Coming from the same hometown of Tanga, we shared a lot of experiences together and we both migrated to Canada at approximately the same time.
