Obituary of Mr. Ryan Jairam

Please share a memory of Mr. Ryan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness, the Kanhai and Jairam familes announce the sudden passing of their beloved son, father and brother, Ryan Andrew Mahendra Jairam on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Scarborough General Hospital. Ryan was 46 years young. Ryan leaves his daughter, Mikaylah (age 16), his mother, Waveney Kanhai, his step-father, Raj Kanhai, his sisters Samantha (Sean) Jairam and Deborah (Mitchell) Casado, and brothers, Kristopher (Zaleena) Kanhai and Damian Jairam.

Ryan was born at the Toronto Western Hospital in the city of Toronto, Canada on October 17, 1975 to his mother, Waveney Kanhai (nee Ramessar) and his father, Teeka Jairam. Ryan spent the early years of his life in Pickering, Ontario with his father and step-mother, Elaine Pestano-Jairam. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School.  Thereafter, he moved to Scarborough to join his mother, his step-dad and his other siblings.

After pursuing various passions, Ryan became a long service employee of the Toronto Transit Commission where he acquired many friends. He always maintained his love of cars, his DJ talents, and most of all, his love of fatherhood. Ryan touched the lives of many. He is fondly remembered as a smiling, happy, jovial and helpful person, among other wonderful qualities. He loved to joke and laughed easily. He will always be remembered with love.

Ryan is predeceased by both his father and his step-mother. Ryan will be sadly missed by all, including his many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends, as well as his numerous colleagues at the TTC who have extended tremendous support to our families.

Ryan’s family thanks you for your sympathy and condolences. In the interest of Covid safety and precaution, the viewing and funeral will be limited to close family members and friends.
