Obituary of Ms. Margaret Ayoung
&
Margaret Ayoung loved the culture of Trinidad and Tobago, her native land.
She promoted that culture in Toronto for many years, through the Caribbean Cultural Committee (Caribana), by serving on the Children’s Carnival Committee to help produce the Kiddies’ parade and helped to manage the adult Kings and Queens competition as well as the parade on Caribana day.
She returned to Trinidad almost every year to enjoy the Carnival, play mas and visit the beaches, especially Tobago.
She had many favourite charities and never hesitated to help someone in need. She was well known in the Toronto area, for hosting her own charity, Changing Places, Christmas Parang Soca to help support the living expenses of families of Caribbean children who were visiting Toronto for needed surgery. She held many Christmas parties for underprivileged children in Toronto.
As a retired Executive Secretary from Sunnybrook Hospital, she continued to travel to several destinations like Thailand, Santo Domingo, Egypt, Jerusalem, Portugal, Spain etc. on vacation. She loved travelling and bringing back gifts for her family and friends. Truly a travel bug.
Margaret was born on August 21, 1948 and passed away on January 4, 2021 at the Scarborough General Hospital at approximately 12 noon.
She leaves to mourn her many siblings (Julio, Peter, Gloria, Rosalie, Edwin, Yolanda, Ainsley, Elena and Maria), in-laws (David Des Vignes, Jackie Ayoung, James Burkett, Marla Ayoung), nieces and nephews (Carol, Ivan, Nancy, Linley, Frances, Melanie, Dawn, Robin, Gregory, Jason, Sean, Jada, Patrice, Philip, Chrissy, Tashai) and many other relatives, great friends and doctors and nurses that she worked with.
Margaret will be dearly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
May she Rest In Eternal Peace
