Obituary of Mr. John Ian Forrest

Please share a memory of Mr. John Ian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of John McCulloch Forrest AKA Ian or Forrie announces his passing on Sunday, November 15,2020.

He was born on May 24, 1941 in Dumbarton, Scotland to Robert Forrest & Jane McCulloch and moved to Toronto in 1967. Shortly after arriving he met and married our mother Maureen Carney, also from Scotland. They raised 3 children, Michael, Ian & Fiona and he worked as a machinist always enjoying his job and providing for his family.

He loved his family, Scotland, living in Canada, cycling, repairing, tinkering, creating, building, photography, painting and sweets.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Maureen, his three children, Michael, Ian & Fiona, his grandchildren, James, Nicholas & Katherine (Katie-Claire), and his sister Jean Dunn. He will also be missed by Lucy, Kris, Alejandra, Linda & Mike and his nieces and nephews, John Paul, Daniel, Donna, Terry, Sharon, Jacqueline, Kathleen, Robert, Anthony, Mariah, Maria, Sunny, Wayne, Elizabeth, Jessica and Rebecca, his in-laws Uncle Gill & Auntie Gretta as well as his friends.

His passing signals a reunion with his sisters Auntie Marie and Auntie Cathy, his niece Jeannie and his mom and dad. Also, Uncle Danny, Uncle John, Uncle Edward, Auntie Jessie & nephew Raymond as well as a long-awaited reunion with his son’s namesake Uncle Michael to whom he was very close.

Thank you to Dr. Marcus and all of the amazing nurses and PSWs in Tower 7 of Scarborough General Hospital. And a special heartfelt thank you to mom for taking such good care of dad all these years.

We are comforted by the fact we know he is now in the loving embrace of God.

In lieu of flowers and for his granddaughter, donations can be made to the Durham Down Syndrome Association.
