Obituary
Don (Curtis) Conrad Lawrence McLean passed away on Sunday October 13th, 2019 at 12:03 pm from health complication at Toronto Western Hospital.
Don was born Jan 8th, 1959 in San Fernando, Trinidad to June and Hollis McLean. In 1972, he moved to Toronto, Canada with his family. Throughout his life he has lived in Flemingdon Park, Scarborough, Oshawa and North Bay.
At the age of 16 he joined the Army Cadets at the Moss Park Armory. He was in the 48 Highlands of Canada regiment. Don worked at General Motors Oshawa Plant and for AG Simpson Automotive for many years.
Always the entrepreneur Don had many businesses, while always trying to connect people together. His company Dream Merchants sold Lingerie through home parties and catalogue sales. Another one of his companies The Sky’s the Limit (TSTL) promoted various concerts and events. He shared his ideas and mentored many family, friends and community members.
During his time in North Bay he volunteered with many organizations. For a moment in time he held the chair position of the Immigrant and Refugee Advisory Committee, sang with the Pro-Cathedral Choir, in addition to organized and supported many fundraisers such as youth basketball groups and idol night. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He fundraised for the Knights of Columbus 1007 Newsletter and allied the Knights of Columbus with the Gathering Place Soup Kitchen.
Don was an avid reader, and always encouraged others to understand the importance and power of learning and sharing knowledge. He always had books with him, as well as shared books whenever the opportunity presented itself, even ordering them online when new books were hot off the press. He belonged to various prayer groups and would read and share thoughts on scriptures.
He is survived by his parents, his children Jermaine (JC), Jeremy (JR), Selina (his daughter-in law Natalie), Gordon (Sia), Kaida, and Ajené. His grandson Tristan. His sister Leslieann (brother-in-law Gary, nephews Darius and Malachi and niece Danica).
Mr. McLean was able to light up a room with his contagious smile in addition to his unforgettable laughter. He will be sincerely missed by all he has heartened.  May we honor and celebrate the life he has lived.
