Don
Don cane into my life and re directed it. Because of his passion and enthusiasm to take an early and thriving hip hop scene to the next level, he convinced me as a young radio broadcaster and aspiring rap promoter to stay in toronto and step up my level as a hip hop promotions company with himself as a behind the scenes driving force. He put his money where his mouth was and rarely took no for an answer. This is the Don McLean I’ve always known and respected. A Visionary. An Entrepreneur. A Planner. A Dreamer. A man who was Clever with unstoppable Determination. A Gambler. A Financier. A Slick dresser who always prioritized maintaining a good image. Don was mysterious but most of all Generous. Now- After some 25-30 years or so, I was able to reconnect with Don for a brief time last year and briefly connected with his sister mom dad and son. That was a gift sent from the heavens as it was my opportunity to say hello, thank you and goodbye at the same time as he and I would sometimes discuss his deteriorating physical state and how frustrating it was that nothing seemed to be working. Mind you - His mind stayed sharp as he was still pitching his entrepreneurial ideas right till the very end - typical Don McLean. Here’s to you Don. I will miss your spirit but i know you you will find peace as you journey to the heavens.
