Mrs. Nancy Mathewson

Obituary of Mrs. Nancy Mathewson

Please share a memory of Mrs. Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed away suddenly on Thursday August 29th, 2019 at the age of 81. Survived by loving daughter Kristen (Sean), sisters Barb (Tom) and Sue (Brock), sister-in-law Erna (late Gordy), cousins Joe, Pam, Cheryl and Ruth, and three generations of nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by many other family members and friends from as near as Toronto and as far as Australia. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Bob and her brother Bill (late Janet, Sherry). Born in Chester Pennsylvania, she attended Temple University in Philadelphia, where she met Bob.  They married in 1959 and moved to Canada in 1976 and were long-time members of St. Andrew’s, Toronto.  After 18 years at Consumers Gas, she retired and proceeded to enjoy volunteering at Evangel Hall Mission, Knox College, CNIB, and Sheppard Village.  In her spare time, she enjoyed wood-working, knitting (often donating the results), crossword puzzles, and reading.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Andrew’s Church or Knox College, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Church (73 Simcoe ST, Toronto… SE corner of King and Simcoe) at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019.  Everyone is also invited to join together with Nancy's family and friends at a reception in the church’s Great Hall following the service to share memories, tears and laughter.

A special request from Nancy's beloved daughter, Kristen -- in honour of Nancy's favourite colour, everyone is welcome to wear something red!
