Obituary of Mrs. Victoria "Vickie" Venedam-Vaccaro
Victoria (Vickie) Venedam-Vaccaro passed away in Scarborough on April 11, 2019 after a brief illness.
Born in Toronto on March 31, 1952, Vickie was the eldest child and daughter of the late Raymond Venedam and Anne (MacPherson) Venedam. She was predeceased by her younger brother Raymond Joseph Venedam. Victoria is survived by her husband Tony, sisters Theresa, Annette, Rose, Jodean, Lisa and brother John David and countless nieces and nephews.
Vickie was raised in Antigonish Nova Scotia, and moved to Ontario where she studied and received
her Honours B.A in Political Science and graduated summa cum laude making the Deans Honour List at McMaster University; B.A. in Education at Brock University; Master's Degree in Education at Western University and university of Toronto. She also enjoyed taking summer courses at the College of Christ Church at Oxford University from 2002 through 2009.
Vickie was employed as a teacher with the Toronto District School Board.She taught at Knob Hill Jr.P.S. and served as both a Vice-Principal and School Principal at Glenn Ravine Jr.P.S. until her retirement in 2012. Vickie was a natural leader with an encyclopedic mind and interests which kept her actively engaged with family, friends, school and her community. To those who knew her, Vickie was a precious gift. She shared her unique joy, compassion and intelligence with all whom she came into contact; be it people, animal or plants. She loved traveling to Ireland, Great Britain, Europe, Australia, Japan, to countless states in the United States and to provinces within Canada but never forgetting her East Coast roots of her Scottish and Acadian French heritage. She enjoyed listening to a variety of music from modern to classical and cultural genres. Vickie studied the guitar in her younger age and enjoyed playing as time permitted.
Vickie was an avid reader. She kept herself continuously informed by reading newspapers, magazines, journals, and both fiction and non fiction books.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Scarborough General Hospital's Emergency Department, the Sixth Floor Ward, and the I.C.U. Critical Care Unit for all of their compassionate care and support.
Family will receive friends at the Ogden Funeral Home 4164 Sheppard Ave., E Scarborough from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 14,2019. Funeral Service will be held at the Ogden Funeral Home Chapel in Scarborough on Monday, April 15,2019 at 1 p.m.
