Obituary of Mrs. Joyce Finn

Please share a memory of Mrs. Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Joyce Finn. She returned to her heavenly home on Sunday March 17, 2019. Her devotion to family and friends and her firm belief in God supported her during her brief illness and gave her abiding peace.

Joyce was born in Scott Saskatchewan on February 1, 1934, the only daughter of the late Roy and Rose Collie of Stratford, Ont. She spent her childhood in Owen Sound, Ontario where she met the love of her life, her husband, the late Robert Finn. Most of her adult life was spent in the Toronto, Ontario area working in various capacities for the Government of Ontario. She and her husband made a major life decision to start their own business in the early 1980’s. During this time her business associates became more like family and she remained their loyal, loving friend all her life.

Her treasured friends have been tremendously supportive to both Joyce and her family during this difficult time and we appreciate it more than can be expressed. We would like to say a special thank you for the daily and on-going encouragement of Esther Salomon, Nicole Jansen, Julian Madio, Terry and Rani Gogna, and Marcella Coppolino.

Joyce will be remembered as a joyous, vibrant, fun-loving and inquisitive person. She gave you her full attention, her helping hand and her best advice, from the heart. Her lifelong passion was being an author. She wrote futuristic stories, heartfelt poetry, and more recently, her blog "Written My Way". Her writing showed her many sides - whimsical, adventurous, romantic, serious. She and Rob loved being outdoors and enjoyed bird watching, fishing and just absorbing the beauty and majesty of nature. She was an avid reader and truly enjoyed watching movies, especially with family.

Joyce is survived by her beloved daughter Deborah and precious son-in-law Joseph Gallant. When Deb married Joe, Joyce could not have been more thrilled. She had gained not only a wonderful, caring son, but with him came a whole new family. She adored every member of the Gallant, Goden, Trigg, Glasbergen and Tedford families and she will be sadly missed by them all.

She is predeceased by her cherished brothers Don and Harold, and survived by her adored brother Bob Collie of Stratford, Ont. She will be sadly missed by her many loving nieces and nephews from both the Collie and Finn families. Joyce is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law Myra Finn and Jean Finn.

If you feel so inclined, please consider donating to a cause both Joyce and Rob loved, the conservation of Canada’s wetlands, through Ducks Unlimited Canada.
