Your Mom was a very special & blessed person. She was a ray of positive light in everyone’s life. She was kind, patient, compassionate and loving to everyone around her. She didn’t judge anyone but was able to see all sides of a story. She deeply loved those around her and was not reticent about displaying it. She was our cheerleader and coach and gave us much needed wisdom and advice. She saw the potential of each person and always gave encouragement. She could tell me about her childhood, friends, school-mates and jobs she had worked and what experiences she had learned. Joyce was always talking and sharing about the loving family and friends she had around her. When I first met her at the Ministry of Agriculture & Food Soc. Branch, I was blown away by her beautiful smile and warm friendliness and welcome. She was saddened by Rob’s death but she knew she would be with him again someday. Joyce was a special blessing to all who knew her. I still feel like the phone will ring and it will be Joyce, calling me to talk. I really will miss my great friend. Love always, Esther.

Joyce was an incredible aunt. We didn't get to see her much in person in the last decade but we did have long telephone conversations with a lot of laughter and good memories revisited. When I spoke with her in her last days in the hospital, she had made peace with her destiny and was prepared. She was ready to go fly-casting on the Saugeen River with Rob and my Dad. As Joyce would be, she was more concerned about me than her. She, clear and concise, told me to take good care of myself and mine and that she would be watching me to give me a kick in the arse if I slipped. She would "throw a pebble or some other sign in your path so you'll know I'm there".
She was interested in our work and in our kids and our life and she celebrated our success and urged us on when we hit bumps. I never ended a conversation with her feeling anything but encouraged and reinforced.
We shared a great love of nature and birds, like Rob and my Dad. Since she passed, it seems every few days we have encountered new birds. A week or so back, a tiny Saw-Whet Owl flew into the range of my back door security camera at the cottage. He was obviously chasing something but when the lights came on he went a little frantic, fluttering around and then without hesitation he flew straight at the camera and landed on it. I wonder...

Deb & Joe,
I am so saddened by the passing of aunt Joyce. She was always one of my favourite family members. I loved talking with her about unlimited topics. She knew about everything! Some of my favourite childhood memories are camping next to each other in Carson Camp at Sauble beach. Man on the moon! Going to their apartment for weekends with my sister Dayna.
I will truly miss her and will forever keep her in my heart as I do uncle Rob.
I’m here for you if you need me.

Dear Deb and Joe
We feel blessed that we were able to visit Joyce in the hospital and that we had a nice talk and shared some memories with her. She will be deeply missed at the Gallant family get togethers as she always was part of the family. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Joyce always encouraged Bob in his musical endeavors and he really appreciated that.
We hope you will find strength and peace during this difficult time. You are both in out thoughts and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Hugs Bob, Luisa and family

Dear Deb and Joe, how fitting it was that your mom was escorted to her heavenly home by her family on St. Patrick’s day. A day of celebration just as she asked for. St. Patrick was a man of great faith and trust in God. So much so that he wrote the poem “The Breastplate”
“Christ be within me,
Christ behind me,
Christ before me,
Christ beside me,
Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me,
Christ above me,
Christ inquired,
Christ in danger,
Christ in the hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.”
These words exemplifies the life of Joyce Finn
Sending lots of love and prayers to the both
of you, Bernadette and Wayne Trigg

Thinking about Aunt Joyce and the family. Trying to focus on the wonderful times like the moon landing watch on TV at Sauble Beach, sharing poetry thoughts or just talking to "Auntie Everything". Missing them all. And they are missing each other.
So sorry Deb and Joe for your loss.
David and Sharon.

I remember as a young teenager being Deb's friend how Joyce was so welcoming to me. She always had a smile on her face when I visited with Deb. She will be missed greatly by family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Joyce's family. She was a special lady, whom I knew for nearly 40 years. Her strength and dedication always stood out for me. She loved people and was ready to help and encourage any time it was needed. Her poems and kind words were a source of inspiration when my father and mother passed away, and her relentless dreaming and visioning always made me smile.
I had the privilege of spending some time with her while she was in the hospital. Thank you Deborah for that gift. What a precious memory that I will cherish forever.
We love you Joyce. May you rest in peace.
