When we lost you Auntie Jo, we lost a truly special person from our lives. If I never said it, I only hope you knew that you were like a second mother to me growing up. I remember your kindness, your patience, your laughter and the joy you found in life. I remember how you laughed with me, listened to me, encouraged me, believed in me and shared with me. I remember what an amazing woman you were.
You taught me so many wonderful things, most importantly the value and love of family. We had great big adventures together that I remember and treasure. But I also hold dear the many simple times we spent together.
When I last saw you, I wish I could have remembered with you all the small, everyday times we shared, to let you know how much they meant to me. All the sleepovers I had as a kid, where Des and I watch Donnie and Marie and you would gladly sing along with us to “I’m a little bit country and I’m a little bit rock n roll”. I remember going to the shop with you to learn ceramics. I remember playing canasta with you in the summers and spending Christmas days together. I even remember going to the green grocer with you after church on Sundays, were you taught me how to pick out only the best mushrooms. (and I listened to you even though I hated them) I like mushrooms now and I still pick them out just like you taught me, and its silly but I think of you every time I do.
We will always remember you and carry you in our hearts. In the words of Donnie & Marie and their song that we must have sung together a hundred times:
May tomorrow be a perfect day,
May you find love and laughter along the way
May God keep you in his tender care
Until he brings us together again.
Love Virginia, Steve, Noah and Jack
