Betty and I have been coworkers at Sunnybrook Hospital since in the 1990's. Betty was one to greatly admire. Despite of her physical ailments she was always smiling and in good spirits. Betty did not complain but exhibited such strength and perseverance as she went about her daily tasks.
We later developed a true friendship that lasted until the day of her home going. The distance apart (Toronto to Vancouver) did not impede our relationship. I was always greeted with a laugh whenever I called. We communicated by phone regularly and talked about life in general, her grand children which were the joy of her life and the "good old Sunny Brook days"
The day before her surgery, we prayed together and placed everything in God's hands. She even spoke about making one last trip to Nova Scotia with her new pair of legs next year. Sadly God had other plans The Lord knew that Betty was tired and weary as she fulfilled her roles as mother, grand mother, mentor and friend. Another angel is now in heaven. Rest in peace my friend, You will be greatly missed.
