Obituary of Mrs. Giovannina (Joanne) Capobianco

GIOVANNINA (Joanne) Capobianco passed away Thursday September 13th, 2018, in Toronto. One month short of her 94th birthday.

She was born October 10, 1924, in Monteleone, the daughter of Cristina and Joseph Casullo. She married Angelo Capobianco in Toronto, April 23rd, 1949 and he preceded her death on May 15, 2004  after 55 years or marriage.

She is survived by her four children, Rocco, Lina, Cristina, and Joseph Capobianco; six grandchildren, Marcel, Desiree, Julia, Joe, Danelle, Marcus, Three great grandchildren Dante, Domina, and Jacob.

Giovannina worked many jobs as a young immigrant mother from Italy, she and husband Angelo (also from Italy) provided the best possible to their young family. In later years she devoted her time to the church where she led prayer groups and spent much time visiting with the ill and less fortunate in hospitals and nursing homes, always spreading love to those most in need.

Giovannina and Angelo lived in Toronto since 1948.. They loved to attend church and religious functions and events with family and friends.  Giovannina loved people, children, and the beauty in all God’s creations. Seeing anything wondrous or beautiful she would always say "who could make something so beautiful?… Only God could!".

Giovannina (Mamma) will be missed so very much, but will live in us and through us forever! We love you and miss you Mamma!!

Family will receive friends at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E, Scarborough, ON, (416)293-5211. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 2 to 4, & 6 to 9p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, 11a.m. at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 3200 Pharmacy Ave., Scaborough, ON., Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough, ON
