Dear Family.
We are so very sorry for your loss your mother was such a wonderful woman. She was strong,full of life when I met her. I will never forget the first day that I met Mamma Giovanna she was a young woman and worked in the variety store on Coxwell. We both hit is off so well that she wanted to introduce me to her beautiful twin girls Tina and Lina who were just a year ahead of me.
The day that Mamma brought us together was one of the most special days of my life because it was an instant bond and we became sisters. As close as we were we somehow lost each other . I searched for a very long time to try and reconnect but with no luck. A miracle happened after 45 years we were reunited again. It was almost as if time never passed.and I owe it all to Mamma Giovanna who had brought us together again.
I will never forget the day that I spent with her as I walked in her room she had the beautiful smile as she alwaanyys had and that is how I will remember her . I took off my coat and had to use the rest room. As I was heading to the door she said to me " Un Do vai?" which means "Where are you going?" I told no I was going to spend some time with her not to worry I was not going to leave. I spent three hours with mamma I sat with her while she had her lunch we then went into the lounge area where we chatted and then I took her back to her room..
Mamma was so happy and excited that day, we laughed . we prayed. , we sang and I even recited a poem to her which she like so much . She had me repeat it over and over again. "ci sono due cose al mondo che non ti abbandona mai. l'occhi di dio che ti vede ovunque, e il cuore della mamma che ti segua sempre. .Translation "
There are two things in the world that never abandons you. the eyes of God that sees you everywhere, and the mother's heart that always follows you where ever you go.
The one thing about mamma was that she was such a religious woman and she had faith so much so that if you were not a believer by the end of your time spent with her you came out with a higher sense of spirituality. She came to this country and raised four beautiful children and did everything she could for her family. Mamma Giovanna was such a good woman with a great big heart I remember that she also fostered some children who needed to be loved and cared for.
I am so grateful that I had at least four years with her before she passed away and I will treasure for always the time spent with her. My mother sends her condolences also she whispered under her breath " I did not even get a chance to see her after all these years.. I have no doubt that mamma is going straight to heaven and being reunited with her beloved husband Angelo. I am grateful that I got the chance to recite the poem twice before your passing you I held my hand and felt a tiny little squeeze and then I whispered in her ear and told to go to God with open arms and thanked her for the beautiful gift of friendship. RIP cara Mamma the others will be there to greet you.
Thank you mamma Giovanna for your love, life and being the special person that you are . I will miss you dearly and will treasure the memories always. Dear sisters and brothers always remember that as long as mamma lives in the hearts of those she loved. she will go on to live forever. Here for you always Franca & Italo and Family and Mamma Ida too.

To my dear friend Cristina,
I feel the need to share some “words of wisdom” and some memories with you in this time of deep sorrow.
Your Mom loved you very much and while she may not have been able to express it with words as of late, the sparkle in her eyes when you were with her said it all! Your Mom lived a very long life, because of you. You were the “chosen” one who had the honor to look after your Mom. God knew exactly what he was doing when he created you. One of the 10 commandments is to honor thy Mother and Father. You have surpassed this commandment 10 fold! There is no better daughter in this world who looked after their Mother than you!
I truly loved your Mom, so much so that after my Father passed, I said I would never go back to Baycrest, EVER! . Some how I mustered up the courage to go back and visit with ONLY your Mom (and you), Nobody else! I’m happy I got to spend as much time as I did with her. Thank you for that. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Mom with Jordan and I on almost a daily basis. The way your Mom was so happy when Jordan joked around with her was priceless. As for me, singing my made up Italian food song to your Mom, not so much :)
I admire you for who you are and for the every second of every day you lovingly and happily devoted to taking care of your Mom over these past 8 years.
Cris, The days ahead will be rough, But, I hope these words, even if only for a minute, will help you smile. Please know that you have done everything humanly possible for your Mom, until the very end. You are truly an inspiration! May your Mom Rest In Peace.
