Please share a memory of Mrs. Margaret Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In Memory of

Margaret Barbara Hodgins (nee Williams)

On Sunday, April 22, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Predeceased

by her devoted husband of 53 years, Daryl R. Hodgins, and her parents, the Rev. Milton and Jessie Williams.  Survived by sons Glenn (Ann), Eric (Coleen), Murray (Catherine) and daughter Andrea (Scott.) Loving grandma to Kalliopi (Avi), Alicia, Morgan, Hilary, Timothy, Gwen and Cole and great grandma to Talia and Rahm.  Survived by her cousin Joyce Williams and brother-in-law Warren (Isolde), nephew Myke, and niece Tess (Guy).

Barb attended Branksome Hall and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music,

and received her ARCT in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory.  A gifted organist, she played first at her father’s church and then served as music director of the St. Mark’s United Church choir.  This group became the nucleus of the Amadeus Choir and Barb was its director for a period of 10 years.  More recently, she was organist and choir director at St. John’s United Church in Scarborough.  Also a busy and enthusiastic piano teacher, she touched the lives of many young musicians over the years.

Barb shared with her husband Daryl a love of the family cottage in Killarney, especially when it was filled with her family and friends, and she had a special knack for catching the biggest fish of all.  One of the many gifts she gave her children was  an appreciation of the outdoors, encouraging them to explore the remote parts of Canada through Camp Wanapitei.

A gentler, kinder soul never walked the earth.

The family is extremely grateful to the wonderful staff at Shepherd Lodge for their loving care of Barbara during her time with them.
