Obituary of Mr. Donald MacKinlay

Donald George M^acKinlay

Following a mercifully short final battle with cancer, Don passed from this life at Sunnybrook Hospital Feb 22^nd 2018.

Son of George C. M^acKINLAY and Norma Y. (nee FORTNER), born in Strathroy, Ontario, August 9^th 1943. Predeceased by his brother Fortner and survived by his wife Susan (nee MAYO) and children Donald D. and Nancy and their partners Lynsie and Will.

His ‘grandpuppies’ Ruthie and Stella also miss him dearly.

Following a 40 year career with CIBC that concluded with a stint of work in the Caribbean, Don fell in love with Barbados, and the island became a focal point of his later years.  He visited the island regularly and became passionately involved with charity work to support Barbadians.

On Don’s behalf, we want to extend thanks to everyone who blessed him with friendship and love over the years. The family also wishes to thank all the people have supported us through the past few years of Don’s health challenges and also the heath care professionals at Sunnybrook, St. Mike’s, Scarborough General and elsewhere who helped him in his fight, right to the end.
