Obituary of Edna Bourne

Born in St. John, Barbados, Edna passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the age of 77.  She is survived by her children, Lisa and Marc.  She has a large extended family with members living in Canada, the USA and Barbados.

Edna received her  secondary school education at the Modern High School in Barbados.  She earned a teaching certificate from Erdiston Teachers' Training College and, prior to leaving Barbados in 1969, worked as a primary school teacher for several years.

Edna attended the University of Toronto and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Economics.  She later attended York University  in Toronto and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work.

Edna worked for the Ontario Public Service, Community and Social Services for 30 years; as a case worker and a supervisor.  In addition, she volunteered with the Toronto Board of Education, Adult Literacy Program for many years.  She was a long-standing member of the Barbados Modern High School Association (Modernites) chapter in Toronto.  She was also an active member of the congregation at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, Agincourt.

Edna was a kind, compassionate and generous person.  She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
