We have just learnt (Sunday November 19) of Edna Bourne's passing one week ago and are deeply saddened.
We were privileged to have known her; to have had her in our home; and to have been her house guests at Christmas 2003.
Our condolences go out to her family at this time.
we would never have thought that when we communicated in August for her birthday that that would have been our last interaction with her.
May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Edna.
I have known her since she was a “little girl” of 4 years, when she came to be registered at Society Mixed School; where I was a “big girl”. She was later transferred to St. John’s.
When I was very active in Barbados House, we met at the organization's annual conferences.
I will miss her. I know that The Modernite Association of Toronto will miss her also.
My condolences is extended to her family. May she rest in peace.

Edna or "Ethnie" as we knew her was one of my mother's closest and dearest friends. They grew up together in St. John, Barbados and theirs was an enduring friendship. Edna was very meticulous and a stickler for details and excellence. She was very generous and always ready to share her passion for cooking and open her beautiful homes to her friends and relatives. I had the opportunity to visit with her at her home in Toronto in 2010. I also had the privilege of hosting Edna and Lisa in Havana in 2012. She taught the Embassy cook how to prepare many of our signature Barbados dishes and was a tough though amiable task master.
We have many wonderful memories of Edna, Lisa, Marc and of Edna's late mom.
Lisa and Marc cherish the marvelous memories and all the lessons received from your dear mom!
Edna you made your presence felt and made a strong contribution in all your endeavours! We will always remember you with sympathy and love. Rest in eternal peace!

Saying goodbye to Edna.
I remember Edna as one who took charge and did what she had to do. She was also the Puckerin family historian.
When my dad died in Montreal,November 11, 2013, Edna called and told me that she had already spoken to the funeral director in Barbados and all I would have to do was make the arrangements.
The funeral director had a connection to her mum who my dad considered his second mother, and Edna thought it was fitting to keep that connection. She also wanted to be sure that he went home for the funeral service to the parish of St. John, where they both born, and so it was done.
On the day of his funeral she stood by my side and reflected on his boyhood days. It was obvious that to her he was more than a cousin.
So within one day of the 4th anniversary of dad's death, I say farewell to Edna. May she rest in peace.
