I'm very sorry for your loss. At our age many friends, school chums, and work friends are sadly leaving us. I worked with Phil in a related systems department at General Foods for fourteen years, the last being 1988. I found him to be a true gentleman, but it was his sense of humour that I particularly enjoyed and appreciated. He could turn the many frowns, often present in contentious systems meetings, to careful smiles and more often to outright laughter. After GF I sometimes wondered how he was doing and wished we had stayed in touch.
