Obituary of Mrs. Adamandia Avraamides

Please share a memory of Mrs. Adamandia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Adamandia (Ada) Avraamides née Karkanias, who died peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Grace Manor Long-Term Care in her 95th year. A big heartfelt Thank you to the angels at the Toronto East LINH, and then Grace Manor. She was loved and cared for by some selfless people. True blessed. Surrounded by the love of her immediate family and caregivers, Ada lived her life from beginning to end on her terms.

Ada was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew, and her cherished son, Abe. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Anastasia, son-in-law, Bill, and her dear grandchildren, Andrew and Marina.

Ada's life was marked by an enduring love for her family, her selflessness, her unwavering kindness and her fierce independence.

Before she retired at 65, Ada worked at the U of T bookstore. She loved to read, was always educating herself and she loved being around the students. She easily “adopted” many kids into her fold.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a devoted Aunt, Godmother and Sister- in-law. Ada will be remembered for her strength, her wisdom, her generous spirit, and her warm heart. She touched the lives of many with her amazing cooking, her beautiful sewing and her unwavering compassion. Her house together with her beloved husband Andy was an open door for family and Ex Pats needing a place to stay while they got their new Canadian lives started. She was a devout Christian & was a pillar of love and support for her family and friends.

She will be missed beyond measure but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and grace will live on in all whom she touched.
