Obituary of Mrs. Elsa Saldanha

Please share a memory of Mrs. Elsa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Elsa Saldanha, who peacefully left us at the age of 92, on December 8th, 2024. Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Elsa lived a life that was quietly inspiring and graciously unassuming. Known for her unwavering strength and calm demeanor, she embodied a spirit of resilience and faith in everything she did. Elsa lived by the humble principle of never complaining or troubling anyone for her own needs. Her devotion to God laid the foundation upon which she forged a legacy of love, integrity, and selflessness.

Elsa will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family. She was a proud mother to Errol (Sheila), Maria (Les) and Stephen (Genny), doting grandmother to Ryan (Jennifer), Kristin (Mike), Andrew (Melissa), Jacob, Adam, and Troy, adoring great-grandmother to Olivia, Gabriella, Madelyn, Nathan and Kayden, a loyal sister to Mancio and Melvin (Casilda). and loving sister-in-law to Bruno (Eileen) and Tica (the late Alu). She is predeceased by her cherished husband, Antu, her dear parents, John and Cecelia, and her caring brother Martin and brothers-in-law, Lawrie (Blanche), Albert and Armindo. Although they are no longer with us, the love and memories we all shared will forever remain in our hearts. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nephews, niece-in-laws and cousins.
The family welcomes you to pay your respects at Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, M1S1T3) on Sunday, December 15th from 2-4 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Educate Girls NGO that provides support to girls who would not otherwise have access to education (https://www.educategirls.ngo/) in Elsa’s honor. In accordance with our mom’s wishes, the family will hold a small, private service to celebrate her life.

Elsa has left this world, but her love and wisdom will continue to guide and inspire us for years to come. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
