Obituary of Mr. Frank Yin Hei Shum
We bid farewell to our father, Yin Hei (Frank) Shum, who departed from this world on November 23rd at the age of 87, just shy of his 88th birthday on December 8th. Yin Hei passed away peacefully in his sleep at Chester Village Nursing Home.
Yin Hei (Frank) Shum is survived by his beloved wife Emily, his two daughters, Priscilla and Pamela, sons-in-law Gordon Nicholson and Kristian Howald, and his grandchildren, Lily and Noah Nicholson, Finnley and Daxton Howald, who brought joy to his long life.
Frank was a new immigrant to Canada in 1967. He continued his Hong Kong vocation as a health inspector in Ontario and spent the majority of his career with the City of Toronto. He continued to enrich himself in community health at Ryerson Polytechnic (now TMU) and graduated from University of Toronto with a BA in Social Studies. For those who knew Frank, he had a love of travel, particularly to China, a place he had travelled to several times during his retirement.
To commemorate his long life and the memories we cherish, a Service will be held at Ogden Funeral Home in Scarborough.
We welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was deeply loved and will be missed.
