I did not know Paula well, but she was always warm and welcoming every time we met. She was a special lady, so full of kindness that it always showed to everyone she met. The world is a sadder place right now, and I am thinking of the family and friends she left behind.

I’m struggling to find the words to express all that I’m feeling. So many emotions, so much sadness.
As a child, you were my hero. I admired and looked up to you. You were my inspiration, my confidant and my protector. I turned to you when I was scared and alone. You provided a home and the unconditional love I was seeking it. When everything else was askew, you were the constant in my life. I found comfort in the constant.
I don’t think I ever fully expressed what it meant for you to welcome me into your home at the age of 16, a tender age when I felt very alone and that I didn’t belong. You made a place for me. I felt I belonged. I don’t know if I ever said thank you, so thank you.
I know we had our differences later in life, but you have always been, will always be, my big sister. I loved you from the moment I was born. I will love you until my last breath.
We were at odds for a period in time, but I’m grateful we mended fences. I am glad I had the opportunity to return the favour and help you when you needed it. I look fondly on our time together last November and smile at the many memories of you making coffee, us eating and dancing together. Sister, you will be missed. I love you. It brings me joy to know you’re reunited with your one true love, and that I’ll see you again someday.
