Obituary of Mrs. Gloria Hughes

Gloria Hughes was peacefully ushered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on October 18, 2024, at Sunnybrook Hospital. She was born on December 31, 1939, in Georgetown Guyana. She is survived by her loving daughters Deborah Azeez, Colleen Lafleur (Laurel Lafleur), Kim Hughes, Beverley Legall (Paul Legall), sons Orson Hughes (Sandra Hughes), Hillary Hughes. And sister Veronica Henry. She will be forever missed by her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Lawrence Hughes, daughter Tessa Hughes, and siblings; Agnes Thornhill, Ann Hinds, and Desmond Thornhill, whom she loved dearly.

Gloria, affectionately known as “Grandma” was deeply dedicated to her 7 children, 27 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and tireless service to her church. She will be fondly remembered for her culinary skills and her commitment to Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life will be held at Malvern Christian Assembly on Saturday, November 9 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Malvern Christian Assembly (her home church for over 25 years), and/or the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
