Obituary of Mrs. Barbara Sparkes
Barbara Olive Sparkes passed away at the age of 88 in Scarborough, ON on October 29, 2024 surrounded by love of those she has touched in life. Born on February 26, 1936, Barbara dedicated much of her life to caring for others in her professional roles as a Sister Nurse at St Mary's Hospital in England and an Educational Assistant with the Toronto Public School Board, assisting with children with special needs. She continued her service to the community through her volunteer work at Scarborough Grace Hospital and Port Royal Public School Library in Scarborough.
Barbara was known for her kind, generous, witty, and loving nature. She found joy in simple pleasures like knitting, walking, watching her favorite show 'Coronation Street,' and engaging in games of cards and dominoes with friends and family.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Sparkes; her daughter, Lisa Williams; beloved grandson, Quentin Williams; and son-in-law, Joel Dela Cruz; nephew Dirk Blackdeer and wife Crystal Blackdeer; niece Jenny Blackdeer and family. Barbara was preceded in death by Bertha Lagden - Turner.
A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at Ogden Funeral Home on November 4, 2024. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scarborough Health Network in her memory, honoring her lifelong commitment to helping others and the generous care received. Thank you.
