HEDERSON, Janet Elizabeth “Betty”

October 7, 1932 – October 4, 2024

Mom passed away peacefully in her home with her four sons present just 3 days shy of her 92nd birthday.  She fought the good fight, lived a long fulfilling life, and is in a better place now.  She was the last surviving family member of her generation.  We will forever miss her wit, stories, sense of humour and dedication to family.

Loving and devoted wife of Jim who predeceased her in 2006.  Beloved daughter of Archibald and Mary Hastings and sister to Archie and Dorothy Bell (Bob).  Daughter-in-law of Herb and Myrtle Hederson and sister-in-law to Dorothy Brown (Ross).  They are all together again.

Proud mother of sons David (Anita), Don, Scott (Lori) and Andrew (Jennifer).  Dearest grandma to Leslie (Blaise), Leanne (Chad), Laura, James, Paul, Ashlynn (Tyler), Nicole, Haley, Megan and Mitchell.  Aunt to Debra, Bill, Patti, Bob (Leslie) and the late Lynda.  Great Grandma to the apple of her eye, Logan.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank mom’s long-standing home care worker Karlene for her service and friendship, Rachael and Shelly who provided overnight care, and the many other care workers from St. Elizabeth’s, including nurse Jinu, home care coordinator Rebecca, and nurse practitioner Sylwia.  Mom could not have realized her wish to pass at home without you.

A celebration of life will take place at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough on Saturday December 7 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.  Private interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities, Salvation Army, or the Special Olympics.
