Obituary of Mr. Adrian Bernard Prowell
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Adrian Bernard Prowell, on October 10, 2024, at the age of 67.
Adrian was born on January 24, 1957, in Meadow Bank, Georgetown, Guyana, to loving parents, Elsa and Oscar Prowell. He was the sixth of fifteen siblings.
In 1973, at the young age of 16, Adrian immigrated to Canada. He seized every opportunity to work hard, building a strong foundation for himself and his future family. In December 1978, he married his dearest Jo’Ann. Shortly after, they purchased their first home and welcomed their cherished daughter, Melissa, in May 1988.
Adrian adored Melissa and worked tirelessly to provide his family with the best life possible. He had a strong entrepreneurial spirit and was successful due to his perseverance, willingness to put his clients first and his dedication to always getting the job done well. He had a passion for food, often cooking homemade dishes like curry chicken, pepper pot, cook-up rice and chow mein for his family. Adrian’s love for his large family (especially his mother Elsa) and his friends was boundless. He was always ready to help anyone in need.
Adrian also had a love for travel. Some of his most memorable trips include returning to Guyana, where he traveled to Arrowpoint and toured the Essequibo River and visiting Madeira, Portugal, the island where many of his ancestors originated. He cherished his time exploring Madeira with Melissa and his son-in-law, Javon.
Adrian’s happiest moments were walking Melissa down the aisle at her wedding in 2017 and in 2021, welcoming his first and only grandchild, Zion, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Adrian will be deeply missed by his friends and family, especially his wife Jo’Ann, daughter Melissa, son-in-law Javon, grandson Zion and his surviving siblings: Michael, Terry, Denis, Patsy, Trevor, Bryan, Andrew, Nerissa, Dianne, Yonette, Denise, and their families.
