Obituary of Mr. Alexander (Jack) Hodges
Alexander Hodges was born on March 12, 1935 in St. Ann, Jamaica, to Hubert and Louise Hodges.
Alexander and his siblings grew up attending Sunday school at the local Tabernacle church. While at Clydesdale School he showed great promise as an athlete. As he got older Alexander’s interest changed to cars and how they worked. He received an apprenticeship working as a machinist at a local car garage. After that his first job was with Jamaica Bauxite Mining Company. He also worked for the tourism trade as a taxi driver, ferrying visitors around his beautiful island. It was during these years that Alexander was mysteriously given the nickname “Jack” and it stuck. To this day many people only know Alexander as “Jack”.
In the late 1960’s Alexander immigrated to Canada. He retained a job with Canadian National Railway (CN Rail) and married Lena White. Lena and Alexander were happily married for 35 years until her death in 2001. Alexander worked for CN Rail for 35 years until he retired. Throughout his life God, family and friends were the most important things him. Many happy memories and life-long friendships were made and will never be forgotten.
