Handel Samuel Jaikumar (affectionately known as Kumar) passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at Scarborough General Hospital. Handel was born on December 18th, 1946 in Chennai, India. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Cynthia, son Jeffery Jaikumar and his wife Maressa, his daughter Sunitha Jaikumar, and his son Charles Jaikumar and his wife Jessica. He will be forever missed by his cherished grandchildren, Theodore, Ethan, Kirra, Zion, Vivian & Taya.

He is predeceased by his mother Stella, father Dorairaj and his beloved sister Prema.

Handel was deeply devoted to his faith, and was a diligent and thoughtful student of Christ. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees and more recently, Manchester United, and shared his love of sports with his children and grandchildren. He loved jazz and Frank Sinatra, and never tired of hearing a rendition of O Holy Night. Handel offered years of tireless service to his church communities and family; he was both a bold leader and a humble servant wherever he chose to offer his gifts, and shared his passion for the Lord on missions trips over the years, visiting Fiji and India as he served. Handel was passionate about serving those in need, and spent countless Christmases supporting and buying gifts for the children served by Angel Tree. He cared deeply for those serving time in prison, visiting prisons and carrying on correspondence with many of those he met. He fondly remembered his years as a project manager working in tech, and the years he spent with friends and family in Canada before moving to California for much of his life. He was deeply fulfilled in his love for Christ, and shared this devotion with his wife Cynthia who was his constant spiritual support. He was a mentor and friend to so many in his community, both in Canada and abroad, and will be deeply missed.
