Obituary of Mrs. Helen Sherry

HELEN SHERRY 1926-2024

Helen Sherry, beloved wife of the late Jack Sherry, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 at the Redwoods Retirement Residence.  Helen was one of eleven children born to John and Mary Stanko of Libau, Manitoba, a farming community that played a large part in her early life before she moved to Ontario, following in the path of seven  of her siblings with whom she maintained close ties throughout her life.   Among other work place positions, Helen was an executive secretary at Volkswagen in Toronto before she took early retirement to pursue her interests in classical music, opera, gardening, tennis and travel,  among others.  In later years she became a dedicated caregiver to Jack and several siblings.  Her final two years and nine months were happily spent at the Redwoods Residence in Ottawa where she always enjoyed her apartment, the meals and the activities.  Helen leaves a legacy of love , stoicism and dedication to her many nieces and nephews;  she will be missed.
